Brush head exploration
Focusing on the design intent of cutting down on time for brushing, I created multiple toothbrush head profiles in hopes of covering the most area while brushing.
Prototyping
ā¢ Toothbrush handle forms with excessive curvature were excluded due to component constraints.
ā¢ Several head forms with varying widths and lengths were prototyped to determine the most comfortable design for brushing.
ā¢ A minimal handle with a single button was chosen to minimize the use of any confusion while using this toothbrush.
Design testing & Validation
Two brushes were tested, one with the new āVā shaped design & another with a standard design.
The āVā shaped design was able to clean more surface area within a minute while also reaching most of the mouth surface area.
The Standard toothbrush proved to have a difficult cleaning as much surface area & was only able to clean the bottom portion of the mouth within the one-minute mark.
